The scene for Northern Fibre VI is by the lake Tuusula in an old cultural milieu, which was the surroundings for the celebrated Finnish national artists' colony at the turn of the 19th and 20th century. The working premises are in ARTO radio and television institute.
The available workspaces have internet connections and equipment for digital image processing, with a possibility for advanced multimedia projects. The Vantaa-based EVTEK Institute of Art and Design has offered the workshop participants a limited chance to use their digital textile printer and jacquard looms on request.
The Northern Fibre VI workshop consists of individual artistic work, evening programme with slide presentations by each participant, excursions, and lectures by the workshop leader and visiting lecturers. The lectures approach the theme of the workshop from diverse perspectives e.g. art, philosophy and technology.
